Uber riders in Seattle and other U.S. cities now have the option to tip their drivers

San Francisco-based technology company Uber announced today it is adding a tipping feature to its app. The new feature is one of several changes the company said it plans to implement over the coming months.

The new tipping feature is part of Uber’s new campaign, “180 Day of Change.” Through the campaign, Uber said it is dedicating the next 180 days toward making meaningful changes for its drivers.

“For the next 180 days (and beyond), we’ll be making meaningful changes to the driving experience. Some changes will be big, some will be small — all will be changes drivers has asked for,” the company wrote on its website.

Uber is kicking off the campaign with tipping, the feature that has been most-asked for by its drivers. The tipping feature launched today in Seattle, Minneapolis, and Houston, and will become available over the next few weeks in other cities where Uber operates.

“Why now?” The company wrote on its website. “Because it’s the right thing to do, it’s long overdue, and there’s no time like the present. This is just the beginning. We know there’s a long road ahead, but we won’t stop until we get there.”
