TimeXtender announced on Monday that Romi Mahajan joined the company as chief commercial officer. Mahajan will lead all corporate marketing, sales, and partnerships from the company’s new Bellevue office.
TimeXtender was founded in Denmark in 2005, and established a North American office in Redmond just a few years ago. The company swapped its Redmond address for one in Bellevue last November, and plans to expand the Bellevue staff from 10 to 40 by the end of 2016.
The company is the largest data warehousing automation provider for Microsoft, with more than 2,600 customers worldwide. It will be Mahajan’s role to design and manage corporate marketing strategy for new customer acquisition, to enter new markets across the globe, and to build an infrastructure to execute and achieve these objectives.
Mahajan stumbled upon marketing accidentally. He initially planned on a career in academia, but ended up working nine years at Microsoft and has been running a consulting firm in Seattle for nearly seven years.
“I really learned a lot about strategic business and the competitive tech world while at Microsoft. I had the opportunity to work with some really outstanding business leaders and the experience was invaluable,” Mahajan said. “Microsoft taught me how to think about scale and how to dream big and to put plans into place to make that vision come true. It was an outstanding training ground for operating within the global arena.”
In addition to his position at TimeXtender, Mahajan is an angel investor and serves on more than 10 corporate boards.
“I love working with a varied set of companies and organizations, and the natural progression is from advisory to board seats. Most have been referral from word of mouth and through the business contacts I’ve made over the years,” he said.
