The 2019 Seattle Film Summit, taking place this weekend, is continuing its legacy as the premier workforce development event in the Pacific Northwest for filmmakers, distributers, and independent contractors.
The goal of the event is to combine artistic and business aspects of filmmaking in order to advance the regional market in funding, creation, and distribution opportunities.
“As the summit has steadily grown, we’ve heard our summit attendees cry for more opportunity,” said Ben Andrews, founder of the Seattle Film Summit, in a statement. “Washington content creators want access to major markets without having to leave their own. And one consistent phrase rises above them all: ‘We want a local film market.’”
As opposed to a film festival, the Seattle Film Summit identifies as a film market. Instead of promoting films to fans and movie professionals, this type of event is focused on conducting business; finding reps and distributors, selling films, building teams, etc.
Attendees vary from commerce officials, city leaders, actors, directors, crew, and film employment experts from across the nation, gathering for the myriad of screenings, panels, and networking opportunities throughout the program.
The event will take place from Friday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 17 at the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle’s Southport with opening night at Regal the Landing & RPX in Renton. Tickets vary in price depending on event and length of participation, from $10 to $140.
