Super Jock ‘n Jill, a Seattle running store that began operation in 1975, has pegged Redmond for its first expansion. The company’s second store will open on Cleveland Steet on Oct. 11.
“We have a good customer base on the Eastside, and since it’s tougher than ever to get across the bridges, we thought now was as good a time as any to expand,” says general manager Ty Whitten. “The community is great … we just hadn’t pulled the trigger.”
Because of that strong demand, Whitten says the Jock ‘n Jill management team has been searching for an Eastside location for about 15 years, but was never able to find the right fit. He says they landed on the Redmond location because there were no nearby competitors and it’s centrally located among Eastside cities.
Like the Greenlake location, Jock ‘n Jill’s Redmond store is in a runner-friendly locale. It’s sandwiched between Downtown Central Park and the Redmond Town Center Open Space, and the trails in Marymoor Park are a short jog away.
Redmond mayor John Marchione will attend the opening day festivities, which Whitten says will be used to thank friends and family that supported the expansion0n.
The store will be a similar size to the Greenlake location and will employ about 10 workers.
