It’s the season for college graduates to toss their scholarly caps and enter the working world as a non-student. And in a few short months, those student loan bills will come knocking.
Personal finance website WalletHub recently released a report listing the cities with people who have the most and least student debt, and WalletHub editors surveyed students about their finances, including their feelings about credit card debt.
The results revealed 45 percent expressed credit card debt was more worrisome than student loan debt, and one in three said they fear they’ll be in a worse financial position than their parents.
Though one might guess that because the Seattle and Eastside areas are among the most expensive places to live that student loan debt also ranks among the highest. However, WalletHub’s study revealed otherwise. Sammamish ranked among the cities with the least student debt. In fact, not a single Washington city ranked among the cities with the most student loan debt. Sun City West and Green Valley in Arizona took the top two rankings with most student debt. Other states on that list are Florida, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
Other states on the list with the least amount of student debt included cities within New York, Texas, and California.
