The Redmond REI has moved to a new home in Bellevue. The store will celebrate its grand opening Sept. 23-25 with special activities.

Doors open at 10 a.m. Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. Sunday.

The first 200 people, 18 and older, will receive a limited-edition CamelBak water bottle with a promotional card for $10, $50, or $100 to REI.

Activities during the grand opening celebration include:

  • Snacks, beginning one hour before doors open.
  • REI MasterCard photo booth, with free souvenir photos.
  • REI Outdoor School classes.
  • Live Music.

The new store is on the second level of the Bellevue Central Shopping Center at 116th Avenue Northeast and Northeast Fourth Street. The store is more than 40,000 square feet.

It’s a return to Bellevue for the company. REI opened a store in Bellevue in 1984, then moved to Redmond in 1998, before coming back to Bellevue this fall.

“The new store in Bellevue will be better equipped to serve co-op members and customers for their outdoor adventures,” said Doug Schmidt, REI divisional vice president of retail in a press release. “The larger space will allow us to offer a broader selection of products and programs, and the location will provide more convenient access for outdoor lovers on the Eastside to explore the parks and forests throughout the region.”

There are also REI stores on the Eastside in Issaquah and Tukwila.

HomeGoods is also opening at the center.
