Aegis Living’s Bellevue headquarters opened in spring 2017, and is regarded by staff as a retreat with abundant natural light, chef-curated meals, and several rejuvenating hubs. The company was founded in Redmond 20 years ago, and now operates 28 senior living and memory care communities — 14 of which are in Washington, with nine more in development. The headquarters serve 60 support and administrative staff, many of which were included in the design process for the new office. Founder and CEO Dwayne Clark wanted employees to feel “nourished, energized, and motivated to be their best” at the new location. “The space is amazing and inviting,” said Senior Vice President of Development Walter Braun. “I may dread the work on my desk, but I never dread going into this building.”
- Bright Workspaces – Employees helped design the building so the majority of workspaces are oversized and outward-facing with windows and plenty of natural light. Management occupies the interior offices.
- Inspiring spaces – Open spaces throughout the building are decorated with colorful and purposeful artwork. Inspiring nooks allow employees to leave their desks, change their environment, and find inspiration.
- Beautiful BITES – The in-house bistro is a phenomenal space for employees to grab a bite to eat in a bright, inviting, and nurturing environment. Plant-adorned, biophilic walls let employees connect with nature, which can reduce stress, enhance creativity, and improve well-being.
- Bod Pod – Scientists say 45 minutes of floating/meditating in a sensory-deprivation — or float — tank is equivalent to four hours of sleep! It’s an opportunity for employees to de-stress and escape the daily grind.
- Floating Conference Room – This second floor conference room hangs out — or “floats” — over the lobby and offers a unique place to hold a meeting. “Bubble Girl” in the corner doesn’t make much noise!
- Treehouse Conference Room – There are 196 square feet of meeting space in a treehouse! Employees are always encouraged to inject fun in their day, be whimsical, creative, and approach ideas with childlike wonder.
