Additional assistance for restaurants, breweries, wineries, and distilleries was secured over the weekend when Gov. Jay Inslee signed Senate Bill 5272.
The bill temporarily waives certain annual liquor and cannabis licensing fees. One of these is the annual liquor license fee, which goes into effect in April.
Recognizing the hardships faced by these businesses, Inslee said in a tweet that the bill “will provide some financial relief while we work to get them back to capacity.”
Businesses that followed COVID-19 safety protocols and state orders are eligible for the fee waiver.
The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board will be working with the Department of Labor and Industries to compile a list of ineligible businesses based on any violations committed during the pandemic.
