You don’t have to travel to Paris or New York to get the most exclusive designer looks. Bellevue is quickly turning into a fashion hub for international luxury brands.

The Shops at The Bravern has added yet another designer store to its shop list. Moncler, a high-end outerwear line, opened on Nov.25. Moncler is best known for its down jackets that cost up to about $2,000 a piece. Their Canetelle jacket with fur sleeves is priced at $5,500. While Moncler jackets are designed for cold weather at high altitudes, the company prides itself on the versatility of their jackets in any environment.

Moncler is the latest of a long list of high-end fashion boutiques that are calling The Bravern home. This summer, Gucci opened its golden gates. Stores such as Jimmy Choo, David Lawrence, and Neiman Marcus have been anchors for the shopping center during the years. Moncler only has seven other locations nationwide including.

We reached out to Moncler about their decision to set up shop in Bellevue rather than Seattle or elsewhere, but they were unable to comment by the time of publication. We also reached out to The Bravern on whether they’re intentionally trying to build luxury-only shopping center.

“The Shops at the Bravern offers a first in class shopping experience, showcasing luxury, premier merchants,” said a Bravern spokeswoman. “We’re always looking for ways to provide the best retail and dining experiences to meet what the Bravern shopper has come to expect.”

Bellevue has become a highly desired destination for big luxury brands, and they’re not only moving into The Bravern. The Bellevue Collection has more designer shops than ever before. In the last year, Diane von Furstenberg, Max Mara, and Intermix all moved into Bellevue Square.

Terri Morgan, director of TCM Models and Talent, has worked in the local fashion industry for more than 30 years, and said big designer brands have started catching on to what Eastside shoppers are looking for.

“Local retailers have long known that Bellevue has a high end shopper like David Lawrence and La Ree. Now the major brands are finding a home there as well, with Max Mara, Intermix, and Gucci all landing in Bellevue,” Morgan said.  “Bellevue Collection’s Fashion Week is proof, with sold out shows that fashionistas flock to the Eastside for wonderful shopping!”

For Sydney Mintle, a fashion PR and marketing specialist at Gossip & Glamour, having new high-fashion brands moving into the area is a major plus. Especially when it comes to Moncler.

“Who doesn’t love a Moncler jacket? … Here in the Northwest, Moncler jackets will soon become a style staple for winter weekend getaways to Whistler. If the Bellevue store carries kids apparel and accessories, I’m in trouble,” she said.
