Kitsap Bank announced today that it has extended the edg3 FUND application deadline to 5 p.m on Aug. 26.
A bank spokesperson said the bank found a technical error in the submission process and confirmed that some applications were not fully submitted. Applicants whose submissions were received have been contacted. Those who submitted an application, but have not been contacted by Kitsap Bank are encouraged to resubmit an application.
Edg3 FUND is a small business competition that recognizes entrepreneurs for growing their community economically, socially, and environmentally. The contest awards $20,000 to the winning company, selected by a panel of judges.
This year, Kitsap Bank added a second $5,000 prize, the Community edg3 award. The winner will be selected by the judges from the pool of semi-finalists.
“In 2015, Kitsap Bank’s edg3 FUND competition was fortunate to receive national recognition from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines when we were presented with their Strong Community Award, and a cash prize that was presented to us at our edg3 FUND Live event last November.,” Kitsap Bank President and COO Tony George said in a statement. “We decided to take that prize money and invest it back into edg3 FUND by recognizing the applicant who best embodies community and giving back.”
Semi-finalists will be announced Sept. 2, and public voting will occur Sept. 19-30. A live pitch event will take place on Nov. 17, during Global Entrepreneur Week.
Past winners include Olympia-based Olykraut and Pawzii, based in Bremerton.
