More than 100 high school and college students will join T-Mobile this weekend at its headquarters in Bellevue for CodeDay Eastside, a 24-hour event that aims to get students excited about coding and computer science.
The event, which takes place Saturday, Feb. 18 through Sunday, Feb. 19, is $20 to attend. Students can register for the event online.
On Saturday, mentors from T-Mobile will be available to help answer questions and guide students as they design and code games and apps with their peers. The day will include everything from pitches and workshops, to peer feedback sessions, and more. On Sunday, students will have the opportunity to present their games and apps prior to an awards ceremony that will conclude the 24-hour coding event.
According to StudentRND, the Seattle-based nonprofit behind CodeDay, 80 percent of students with no prior interest in computer continue programming after events like CodeDay, 74 percent will attend other community tech events, and about half major in computer science in college.
