The Parisian luxury brand Hermès opened an expanded location at The Shops at The Bravern on June 5. The company, known for its high-end accessories and fashion, has occupied a storefront at the Bravern since 2009. But it’s new 10,000 square-foot boutique has a lot more to offer. It houses 16 product categories including bags and luggage, diaries, small leather goods, saddles, silk, women’s ready-to-wear, hats, and more.
Hermès is one of the highest priced fashion brands in the world. It’s most famously known for The Birkin bag, a handbag beloved among celebrities that can cost $10,000 or more.
“We see this expansion as a glorious salute to Seattle, and we are so excited to have this opportunity that will allow us to better service our loyal clients and elegantly present a more complete assortment of finely crafted objects, reflecting Hermès’ signature attention to detail and commitment to quality” Robert Chavez, president and CEO of Hermès U.S., said in a statement.
True to its reputation for lavish luxury, Hermès held a fancy seated dinner at the Bravern to celebrate the grand opening of the new space. Perhaps the most interestingly dressed attendees were the waiters. White masks and orange paper collars became part of the uniform for the night. Stumped by the sometimes peculiar costumes we reached out to Hermès for an explanation. According to a spokesperson, Hermès has been partnering with Belgian artist Charles Kaisin on special events. For the Bellevue dinner Kaisin used a concept based on the brand’s annual theme Le Flâneur or “to wander.”
Hermès’ extravagant opening only highlights the already growing parallel between the exclusive set of luxury boutiques at The Bravern and shopping centers across Western Washington.
