Kirkland-based EvergreenHealth recently announced that The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization overseeing hospital quality and safety, awarded the health system with the designation of Top General Hospital, recognizing its achievements in reaching the highest standards for both patient safety and quality.
In addition to this honorary award, EvergreenHealth also received from The Leapfrog Group an A on the Hospital Safety Grade.
“We are excited to be named by the Leapfrog organization as one of the top hospitals, as it is an acknowledgment of the commitment our organization has made to safety, quality, and service over time,” said Jeff Tomlin, MD, CEO of EvergreenHealth. “We’re thankful to the Board and our team of providers, staff members, and volunteers, who have come together to produce these results.”
Competing against 2,100 other hospitals for this prestigious award, EvergreenHealth was placed as one of the 120 hospitals spanning across the country to receive a Top Hospital Distinction, and was notably one of only three in Washington. Leapfrog’s qualifications encompass various areas of hospital care and these rigorous standards are detailed in each year’s current Top Hospital Methodology.
The qualifications these healthcare systems must possess in order to be eligible for the Top Hospitals standing are extremely demanding, requiring hospitals to achieve top performance in its category as well as rank highest among peers in accordance to the 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey.
