News & Brews: Regulating Big Tech

March 21 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$25

Join us at Art Marble 21 on Thursday, March 21st for an evening of food, drink and conversation about one of the biggest issues facing our city today.

As the behemoths of the tech industry have matured, the true power they wield has become more apparent and, to some, troubling. Facebook is producing a never-ending onslaught of bad news, from massive privacy breaches to its role in illicit persuasion campaigns. Meanwhile, Amazon is lambasted by a wide array of interests, from President Trump to proponents of labor rights. Recently, lawmakers have begun to entertain the idea of regulating these massive companies, maybe even breaking them up. We will explore whether they should do it and if so, how?

Crosscut’s Melissa Santos will moderate a panel including:

Reuven Carlyle, WA Senator

Noah Purcell, WA Solicitor General

Jack Kirkwood, Professor of Law at Seattle University

Your ticket includes access to the pre-reception (6:00 PM – 7:00 PM) where you will enjoy complimentary drinks and appetizers. The program will follow at 7:00 PM and run for approximately (1) hour.
