The Downtown Issaquah Association (DIA) has been acknowledged as one of 337 Main Street America affiliate programs, a recognition of its dedication to meaningfully improving its community.
Known for its historic charm and lively atmosphere, downtown Issaquah has grown through the guidance of DIA for 26 years.
Main Street America, an organization that works to revitalize older and historic commercial districts, recognizes its affiliate programs each year. Affiliate programs use the “Main Street Approach,” a framework for preservation-based economic development and community revitalization. In 2020, the work of Main Street America programs resulted in 4,356 net new businesses, 14,988 net new jobs, and $4.14 billion in local reinvestment. More than 8,400 historic buildings were rehabilitated.
“During a difficult year, these Main Street programs have proven their unique ability to generate impressive economic outcomes, preserve the character of their downtowns, and lift up their communities,” said Patrice Frey, president and CEO of Main Street America, in a press release.
DIA has worked to continue providing visitors with history, arts, and music in creative and safe ways this year. This summer, Downtown Issaquah will present “Al Fresco on Front,” an outdoor dining concept with various shopping and restaurant options.
