Comcast recently released its plan to invest $7.6 million for broadband expansion in rural Snohomish County.
Sisco Heights, Burns Road, and Frontier Air Park are the areas of focus. The two-year project includes the complete services of Xfinity suite and Comcast Business.
“Snohomish County welcomes Comcast’s significant investment in our rural communities and the expansion of broadband access. This investment will support workforce development, virtual education, overall quality of life, and greater access to high-speed internet for our residents,” said Snohomish County Executive Dave Sommers in a release.
Internet Essentials, a leading affordable internet program designed for low-income Americans, will be coming to the area. To date, the program has assisted greater than 85,000 households in Washington.
“Bold investments like these will help families during this difficult time and beyond and help make sure students don’t fall behind because of their connectivity,” said Congresswoman Suzan DelBene in a statement.
