Bellevue College recently announced a new bachelor of applied science degree in digital marketing, with classes set to begin this spring.  The degree, which will be the 12th baccalaureate degree offered at the college, was approved by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

The new program was designed largely in response to the high-demand from local employers in need of marketing professionals with hands-on digital experience, school officials said.

“Our Institute for Business and Technology advisory council made it clear to us how difficult it is to find talent with digital marketing skills,” said Chris Bell, director of applied baccalaureate development at the college. “Digital marketing has become the centerpiece of most marketing campaigns and is a high demand field that requires training at the bachelor degree level.”

According to the college, digital marketing positions are expected to increase 20 percent over the next decade, with many of those jobs requiring a four-year degree.

The program, which is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in marketing fundamentals as well as digital skills, aims to equip graduates for jobs in marketing strategy, media buying, research, campaign reporting, analytics, optimization, and more.
