Not sure how to ask your boss for a raise or quiet your chatty coworker? Etiquette expert Arden Clise is here to answer your awkward workplace questions.

Q:What should I do when I’m introduced to someone or addressed by the wrong name?

A: My dear husband, who has a habit of shortening people’s names, kept calling a neighbor Terry, but his full name was Terrance. What do you do when someone gets your name wrong? You do what Terrance did with my husband. You say something like, “I’m one of those people who actually likes my full name. Please call me Terrance.” Or, “Jane is a lovely name, but my name is actually Jamie.” It’s OK to correct someone nicely when they gets your name wrong. Your name is special; people should know it.
