Rumor has it Amazon will open an office on the Eastside at the new Schnitzer West building in downtown Bellevue, according to an article published yesterday by GeekWire stating that the Seattle-based electronic commerce and cloud-computing company has signed a lease for a 354,000-square-foot office space at Centre 425.
Amazon has not commented on its potential Bellevue office lease, but the report coincides with other rumors that surfaced this summer. In August, for example, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported that Amazon would be the tenant in a new downtown Bellevue office.
News of the lease follows a new commuter shuttle pilot program Amazon launched earlier this week aiming to make commuting from the Eastside to Amazon’s Seattle campus easier for employees living in Bellevue, Redmond, and Issaquah.
The new office and shuttle program both link Amazon back to Bellevue, where the company was founded by CEO Jeff Bezos in 1994.
