Kitsap bank has released a list of 11 semi-finalists for their annual edg3 FUND small business competition.
The edg3 FUND competition offers a $20,000 cash prize for one select small business with big ideas. The competition aims to “provide funding for entrepreneurs dedicated to growing our community economically, socially, and environmentally” according to the bank’s website.
The bank received applications from a myriad of western Washington businesses with diverse backgrounds ranging from the food and beverage industry to technology.
“We are excited to have received applications from a number of very promising companies,” said Tony George, President and COO of Kitsap Bank in a statement. “All of these innovative and hardworking business people are doing great things to promote a sustainable community, and we were honored that they invested their time and effort to join our contest.”
In addition to the grand prize, the bank also has established a $5,000 cash prize, which will be awarded to one business selected from the pool of semi-finalists that, in the judges’ opinions, best embodies the spirit of community, based upon their application.
A public voting period beginning on Sept 19, running through Sept 30, will decide the top five finalists who will move forward in the competition for the cash prize. The finalists will present their pitches to a live audience and independent panel of judges at Harborside Conference Center in Bremerton on Nov 17.
