It was a partly sunny day with a moderate temperature and a pleasant breeze coming off Lake Washington yesterday when Hyatt celebrated the opening of Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Southport in Renton.

After a festive Chinese lion dance kicked the festivities off, leadership from the City of Renton, SECO Development, Hyatt, and even Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin were on site to cut the ribbon and open the 12-story, 347-room hotel situated on the shores of Lake Washington, less than 10 miles from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

“We are thrilled to open our doors to global travelers and offer world-class hospitality within the Southport development,” said general manager Rusty Middleton. “As part of the Hyatt Regency family, we take pride in connecting travelers to what matters most to them, including convenient access to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Seattle and Bellevue, high-tech guest amenities like free Wi-Fi and smart television, and the simple pleasure of enjoying a coffee on our lakefront terrace after a peaceful night’s rest.”

Guests and locals alike will enjoy the Hyatt Regency’s 60,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting and event space, which boasts scenic views of Lake Washington. This includes two naturally-lit, state of the art ballrooms, including the region’s largest waterfront hotel ballroom. Each flexible space includes amenities like 1 GB fiber optic-enabled data speeds, premium audiovisual equipment, and a dedicated events team for standout business gatherings, private functions, and lakefront weddings.

Moreover, the region’s newest hotel also offers breakfast, afternoon hors d’oeuvres, and locally sourced snacks throughout the day as well as the “The Market,” which offers gourmet grab and go dining options — in lieu of room service — snacks and sundries, available 24/7.

Alternatively, Northwest-inspired pan-Asian dishes can be found at the full-service 236-seat Water’s Table. Led by executive chef Vincent Savingnano, Water’s Table offers indoor or outdoor waterfront seating for breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, and weekend brunch, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
