The owners of Brick & Mortar Books at Redmond Town Center officially celebrated their business’s grand opening this weekend with a two-day event that brought avid Eastside readers to the independent bookstore.
The shop is truly a family affair, with former elementary school teacher Dan Ullom partnering with his parents, Tina and John, to open the 4,000-square-foot store in a space formerly occupied by Eddie Bauer, filling a vacuum left behind nearly six years ago when Borders Books & Music left the mall.
“We want to be in the business of books,” Dan Ullom told 425 Business in March while still overseeing the store’s construction. “(We) love everything about books.”
Customers filled the store throughout the weekend to pore over the shop’s selection of some 20,000 titles and meet popular children’s book authors and illustrators Kevan Atteberry, Kim Baker, Ben Clanton, Marissa Meyer, Dan Richards, and Laurie Ann Thompson.
